Re-think! is a Zero Waste to Landfill inspired project. There are three reactions to recycling; people who change their lifestyle for it, those who see the damage but are unsure how to help, and those who don't as they feel negative pressure from the media. Small changes can help over rule one big issue! So by changing this confusion of what can and can't be recycled and how to recycle, recycling will be more understandable. Hence the reason for the Re-think! app, learning and finding places to recycle and reuse unwanted items, preventing waste from landfill. Letting people Re-use, Re-cycle, Re-find, Re-think!
This project was displayed at Perth Design Festival at Civic Hall, click on video below for tour.
The two centre boards are the statement pieces where the physical items are showing in the recycle & reuse wooden symbols. The illustrations of the items are based from the digital designs used in the app. They are sprayed onto the plastic circle sheets which are compressed bottle caps, keeping in with the theme of recycling. Plastic is a major issue our ocean is filled with plastic, which it being tackled by reducing single use plastics but not everyone sees why it matters. By showing the harm their actions causes to the animals; swallowing the plastic hence being filled up with our plastic waste.
